2006 will mark the 100^th Birthday of the City of Galax. As this milestone approaches local citizens are working to make the occasion one to remember through celebratory events and commemorative activities.

The Galax Centennial Steering Team is extending an invitation to representatives of civic groups, clubs, and organizations to attend a Centennial Roll-Out Event to be held at The Rex Theater on Monday, October 25, 2004 at 6:30 p.m.

The Steering Team will be presenting information on how these groups can become involved in the 100^th Birthday of Galax. The event will roll-out the newly designed Centennial logo. There will be a cd flash presentation on the Rex movie screen.

During the twelve months of the year 2006 community organizations, non-profit, cultural, businesses, civic clubs, and churches will be encouraged to co-brand their normally held annual events as part of the Centennial Celebration.

The Centennial Committee will be available to answer questions, share ideas with organizations and will continue to work to organize and present a community celebration comprised of special events, activities and exhibits that honor our past, celebrate the present and imagine the future.

The committee has begun to plan legacy events for the 2006 Centennial which will be shared during this meeting. Proposed legacy projects include a First Night Event, a sculpture/monument project, a drama portraying historical events and people of the area. The committee is working with a regional artist who will be exhibiting a sample of his work during the Roll-Out event.
